Hey we got FUNded
AMAZING NEWS!! we just receive the HEY $10k grant from Youth Affairs Council Victoria to support the governance and sustainability of Queering Some Space for 2018!
Making this grassroots group into a grassroots group into a lush field of support using a multidisciplinary approach to establishing a safe and inclusive space and ongoing support structure for young SSASGD/LGBTIQ+ people in an isolated rural area.
Origin Story
I started QUEERing Some Space winter 20187 as TOPshelf first Artist Collective Pilot. The group was an exploration of activating a free community space and facilitating weekly groups working towards a shared purpose. Pretty much I had photographed a bunch of young Gippslandian's for the I Do BIG Picture 2 years ago. They were growing up and coming out in a pretty awesome loud and proud way. I Artivism (Art + Activism) collective for the LGBTQUI....LMNOP Youth of Gippsland.
The Marley Street Hub was a community space in the housing flats of Sale. And looking to integrate. more into the community. It was equaled the perfect formular for me. Free + heating + couches + kitchen + printer + toilets + free condoms x wifi = Lush
YES! I Do Support Marriage Equality In Gippsland
2 years ago we had a simple idea, photograph anyone in Gippsland who believe in the equal rights for ALL PEOPLE to marry the person they loved. Since then we have photographed over a 1000 of you. Raised over $5k, published a book, started a LGBQITA+ Youth Support group, A queer social club, and been able to run an amazing campaign over the last 3 months in the MAIN STREET OF SALE. All leading up to this day. Our community has seen the worse Australia has to offer, from the face of the national no campaign living our region, a victim of a hate crime and media out who couldn't keep it
clean or balanced. We have persisted not out of spite but LOVE! Thank you all who stood up to be counted 2, 10,20,50 years ago thank you to everyone who vote THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO FOUGHT FOR LOVE AND WON!
