Artist PollyannaR is celebrating the LGBTQI+ icons and activists of Gippsland. The exhibition features watercolour portraits, documentaries, Ido photo booth & the Ido Support LGBTQI+ in Gippsland archives.
In a regional town, visibility of the LGBTQI+ community can be the difference between life or death for questioning youth and adults alike.
Icons and activists that choose with pride, to live their lives out loud in their communities and publicly campaign for equal rights not only put themselves but their family at risk.
This exhibition commemorates these amazing people, and all that they have contributed to making regional areas a safer, more vibrant and prideful place for the whole rainbow community to live in.
This exhibition is proudly apart of Melbourne Pride regional events & Midsummer
See Morwell in a different light.
Come explore, reminisce and loose yourself in a landscape of PollyannaR watercolour urban sketches.
Window exhibition / no opening night due to covid
Urban sketching is the beautiful art of seeing and capturing the spirit of a place instantly by creating a sense of adventure & wonder in the most mundane of places. Morwell, if you ask any local is far from mundane! If you stop to look, you can see the layers of community, history & government initiatives as the sedimentary lined cliff faces while the worlds elements batter, crumble and erode them relentlessly.
PollyannaR has wandered the streets surrounding her Gallery in awe of the shapes & the textures. The iconic grey misty Morwell seems to love the beautiful translucent nature of watercolour.
